針對綠委吳焜裕5日在立法院質詢國防委員時，建議應發展「雷射槍」、「機器人戰士」等技術，以解決兵源不足等問題，隨即引發熱議。對此，國民黨副主委洪孟楷、唐德明6日召開記者會，反問總統蔡英文，「您也曾擔任過立法委員，這樣的質詢您覺得恰當嗎？」
由於抽籤的因素，吳焜裕本會期從立法院衛環委員會轉到外交及國防委員會。針對他昨日質詢國防委員時，除了建議發展雷射槍，至於兵源問題，則認為可將戰爭武器、軍隊迷你化，並發展機器人戰士，此言論引發各界討論。

對此，洪孟楷、唐德明6日召開「第一名立委94狂民進黨不尊重專業就是擺爛」的記者會，針對吳焜裕的言論，洪孟楷指出，每個領域皆有其專業，立委諸公質詢是天職，監督政府部門是義務，但監督之前當然要先了解業務；「聞道有先後、術業有專攻」，委員不能只仗著官大學問大，對於不了解的領域指指點點，到最後只落得政府官員虛應故事，這種套招、放水式的質詢，就是不尊重各領域專業，明顯擺爛。
洪孟楷反問蔡英文，「您也曾擔任過立法委員，這樣的質詢您覺得恰當嗎？這就是您曾說過的不一樣的思維嗎？這就是您要給社會更多期待所提出的不分區立委嗎？」，民眾給予民進黨過半的國會席次和執政權，並不是看第一名和100分持續秀下限，尊重專業、28吋行李箱推薦回歸民意才是正途。
唐德明則表示，吳焜裕天馬行空的質詢引起國人譁然，但為什麽號稱食安專家的立委，不質詢國人關心的食安問題，卻要戴著墨鏡在鏡頭前耍寶呢？為什麽排名第一的不分區立委，不能留在衛環委員會，卻被迫淪落到外交國防委員會呢？這是因為民進黨內，黨意大於一切，黨意壓制民意，因此一切都是政治問題，沒有什麽專業問題。

此外，國民黨立委江啟臣也表示，吳焜裕的質詢像是星際大戰的場景，不過對於質詢的內容都尊重，但對官員來說，戰爭情境的掌握、最新科技研發進展、實際掌握敵人擁有的武器系統、對台灣最有效的武器等，這些才是國防部和研發單位要注重之處。
